NBA LEGEND ALONZO MOURNING HOLDS PRESS CONFERENCE TO ANNOUNCE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN LAUNCH WITH $2 MILLION GIFT FROM MIKE FERNANDEZ FOR OVERTOWN YOUTH CENTER CONSTRUCTION AND EXPANSION
MIAMI, FL – October 10, 2017 – NBA LEGEND ALONZO MOURNING, THE MOURNING FAMILY FOUNDATION and THE OVERTOWN YOUTH CENTER are proud to announce the launch of the Capital Campaign to construct and expand the Overtown Youth Center at the press conference on October 18, 2017. A $2 Million gift from Capital Campaign Chair, Miguel B. “Mike” Fernandez, makes the launch possible. The gift represents a 20 percent cornerstone of the $20 million capital campaign. The press conference will take place at the Overtown Youth Center located at 450 NW 14th Street, Miami, FL 33136 and will begin at 10:30 a.m.

ABOUT THE MOURNING FAMILY FOUNDATION:
The Mourning Family Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded by Tracy and Alonzo Mourning that focuses on youth development through advocacy, education and enrichment. Since 1997, the Mourning Family Foundation has served thousands of children and their families by raising over $25 million to support various youth development programs, including the Overtown Youth Center and Honey Shine programs. By providing educational and extracurricular activities, MFF has helped to change the trajectory for hundreds of young people from South Florida’s disenfranchised communities.
